Edward P. Klein, 82, of Barron and formerly of Cameron, died March 15 at Barron Medical Center's extended care unit. .
Mr. Klein was born June 20, 1914 in Hillsdale to Edward and Ida (Grubb) Klein. He was raised in the Hillsdale area, graduating from Barron High School in 1933. In 1934 he graduated from an agricultural short course in Madison and in 1938 received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from UW-Madison. Mr. Klein was active in agriculture during high school and was one of the first Barron Future Farmers of America members to receive the State Farmers Award in agriculture. On Aug. 19, 1944 he married Burdine Brunner in Chippewa Falls. He taught school for several years and also worked as a salesman, farmer and real estate broker. Mr. Klein was an avid gardener and loved to travel, spending the last 16 winters in Florida. He was active in the Cameron Civic Club, having served as president, and was instrumental in obtaining land for the Cameron beach.
Survivors include his wife, Burdine of Barron; three daughters, Jill Williams of Houston, Texas, Susan Danielson of Wauwatosa and Connie Parris of Ardsley, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeanette Juten of Washington, D.C., and Katherine Couch of Houston.
A son, John Edward, died in 1953.
