Chico Enterprise-Record, Chico, CA, Wednesday, March 21, 1962: Carrie Belle Benner. Mrs. Carrie Belle Benner, Chico resident, since 1904, died at the Resthaven Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Benner was born in Breckenridge, MO, on Jan 24, 1879, and as a youngster moved to Honcut, where she received her early education.

Following her marriage to Robert E. Scarborough they moved to Mt. Shasta and established their home, and it was there he died in 1904. She moved to Chico in 1904 and later was united in marriage to Will Benner, who died in 1921.

"Mrs. Benner took an active interest in lodge work, and had been a member for over 50 years of the Beulah Rebekah Lodge No. 60, of Chico in which she was a Past Noble Grand, and was a past member of the Josephine Chapter No. 104, OES.

Surviving Mrs. Benner is a daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Aaronson of Yuba City; two sons, Otis F. Scarborough of Chico and Robert E. Scarborough of Sacramento, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. and interment will take place in the Chico Cemetery.
