Rev. Chester Irvin Miller received his heavenly invitation at 11:20 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2003 in hi residence in London.
He was born March 17, 1917 at Slabfork, Decatur Twp., Lawrence Co., Ohio, the 6th child of Rev. Samuel Wilson Miller and Daisy Altman Miller.
He attended Holmes Missionary Training Institute (now Holmes Bible College) in Greenville, S.C.
He went to Brazil, South America in 1941 to serve as a missionary for the Pentecostal Church of Christ.
He married Rachel H. Yarborough on Dec. 11, 1945 in Recife, Brazil. They had two daughters born in Brazil, and two sons, born in West Virginia. They returned to the USA in 1954 to serve in the leadership role (General Overseer for 28 years) for the denomination, whose headquarters are now located in London.
Their love for God, missions and Brazil continued until his death.
Rev. Miller was an Ordained Minister in his faith for over 60 years and was a retired Missionary to Brazil where he organized the church. A retired professor of Theology at Beulah Heights Bible College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he held an honorary Ph.D. Rev. Miller also was a member of the Madison County Genealogical Society and authored two genealogical books. (One of these was the NEALS OF BEDFORD CO., VA and FAMILY OF WALTER NEAL, SR. OF Lawrence and Gallia Counties, Ohio).
He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Annie (Trent) Frew, the widow of Missionary Russell Fres; daughters and son-in-law, Daisy Ruth and Rev. Richard W. Blevins of Springfield, Edith Keren Anderson of Marysville; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Samuel Brooks (Connie) Miller of Jamestown, Lee Allen (Debby) Miller of Westerville; his eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; step-children, Joanna (Herman) Lewis of Enon, Lawrence Russell (Esther) Frew of Springfield, Gary Marvin (Dawn) Frew of Dayton; 11 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; brothers Charles, John, Forrest, Paul Miller; sisters, Goldie Hall, Florence Oliver; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 36 years Rachel (Yarborough) Miller; son-in-law, Billy Jo Anderson; brothers Floyd and Elmer Miller and sisters; Carrie Guinn, Stella Sibole, Rosabelle Miller.
Funeral services were held in the Rachel Miller Memorial Tabernacle at the Conference Grounds of the International Penecostal Church of Christ in London. Dr. Horace S. Ward of Easton officiated. Interment followed in Kirkwood Cemetery, London.
