Herald Coaster, February 23, 1970:

Funeral services for William W. Gerken, 64, of Needville, were held Monday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. from the Garmany & Co. Chapel in Rosenberg. The Rev. Joseph Seiler, pastor of Immanuel's United Church of Christ in Needville, officiated.

Mr. Gerken died at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Autumn Hills Nursing Home in Richmond. He was a native of Brenham and moved with his parents as a small child to Fort Bend County. He was an employee of the Dow Chemical Company.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alice Gerken; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Meadows of Needville and Mrs. Brenda Sweeny of Needville; two grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. W.O. Miller and Mrs. W.H. Schulz of Needville, and Mrs. D.I. Lowe of Rosenberg; four brothers, F.H. Gerken, J.R. Gerken, and Herbert Gerken, all of Rosenberg, and Bennie Gerken of Needville.

Pallbearers were nephews, Max Band Jr., Henry Gerken Jr., Albert Gerken, Otto H. Schulz, Bobby Gerken, and Edwin Miller.

Burial was in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosenberg under the direction of the Garmany & Co. Funeral Directors of Rosenberg.
