CARLINVILLE - Romie A. Albracht, 87, of Carlinville died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Carlinville Area Hospital.

He was born Sept. 29, 1917, in St. Bernard, Neb., the son of Joseph and Josephine Korth Albracht. He married Jennie Bugni in 1939 in Carlinville; she died in 2004.

Mr. Albracht was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. He owned and operated C&A Tavern from 1945-64 and the Corner Tap from 1966-68 and retired from Olin Brass Works in 1982 after 12 years.

He was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Church in Carlinville, Guy Baird American Legion Post 554, John L. Meyer VFW and Knights of Columbus and was a charter member of Carlinville Moose Club.

Survivors: two sons, Don (wife, Mary) Albracht of Arcola and Bob (wife, Judy) Albracht of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Simon (wife, Betty) Albracht of Omaha, Neb., and Eugene (wife, Jennie) Albracht of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Patricia (husband, Ken) Reikofske of Norfolk, Neb., and Dorothy Head of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Ss. Mary and Joseph Church, Carlinville, the Rev. Dean Probst officiating. Burial: New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville.

Heinz Funeral Home in Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
