Abraham Lincoln or "ABE" Ackley was the sixth child of Samuel and Sarah (Rush) Ackley, born in Morris Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He lived with his parents in several states before they moved to Indian Territory in 1878, and later settled in Keystone (the town now abandoned and under Lake Keystone outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma).

Abe married Josephine "Josie" Nicely on July 9, 1892 in Tulsa, Creek Nation, Indian Territory, as it was then known. They had six children, two of whom were twins and died at birth in April of 1897.

Josie and Abe were survived by their children:
Benjamine Franklin Ackley
Hattie Lenora Ackley Lindsey
John Quincy Ackley
Lee Lawrence Ackley
