John and Johanna Miller were the parents of 17 children (4 died in infancy) and grandparents of 42 children.

Johanna Weber Miller came to Mitchell County, Iowa from the town of Dane in Dane County, Wisconsin in the spring of 1876. She and her husband bought a homestead 3 1/2 miles southeast of New Haven. Her 8th child was the first of her children to be baptized at St Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven.

Johanna was only 42 years old when she passed away - her oldest child was 22 and her baby, Clara, was about 18 months. Her husband did not re-marry. Twelve of her children are interred in the St Peter Cemetery in New Haven, Iowa.

Church records spell Johanna's maiden name "Webber."
