On April 22, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Betty married Dale A. Barney. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. During their marriage, they lived in Bingham Canyon, Utah, Fremont County, and Coeur d’Alene, Wallace, Mullen, Malad and St. Anthony, all in Idaho. In 1972, they moved to Forestville, California, where she loved living in the Redwoods and growing roses. Betty was born in Rigby, Idaho, the third oldest of eleven children, born to Percy Congdon and Clara Della Davis Congdon. In 1930, her family moved to Fremont County. While living in St. Anthony, she was a proofread for the Chronicle News. Active in the Boy Scouts with her three sons, she died in St. Anthony at the home of her daughter, Becky Clements. Survived by her husband, Dale; children, Dan (Marie) Barney, Judy (Tim) Cebulla, Donna Barney, and Becky (Terry) Clements; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and expecting her first great-great grandchild; siblings, Grant Congdon, Kara (Ken) Tolmie; Pat (Jim) Berrett; and sister-in-law, LaVoy Congdon. Her parents, three brothers, four sister, two sons and a daughter preceded Betty in death.
