COLUMBIA SC - On September 24,2005 at University Hospital in Augusta, Edna Crawford Cogburn, 85, went to be with God, after a battle with Alzheimers Disease. Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late John Samuel and Annie Mae Lott Crawford, she was the wife of the late John Hefner Cogburn. Edna was a long-standing member of the oldest Garden Club in Columbia SC, The Jazz Society and Shandon Baptist Church. She was co-owner of Cogburn's Grille in Columbia. Mrs. Cogburn loved to travel, dance, laugh and to spend time with friends and family. She was always very thoughtful of others. Surviving are two daughters, Myra Jean Frantz (Robert Marshall) of Augusta GA and Cynthia Ann Boynton (Michael) of Columbia; two granddaughters, Laura Leigh Frantz of Augusta and Jennifer Frantz Boyd (Bryan) of Atlanta; two grandsons, John Benjamin Derrick of Aiken and Matthew Devon Derrick of Columbia SC; two sisters, Carrie Lou Quattlebaum (The Reverend Curran) and Mary Helen Duffie (H. Z., Jr.) both of Saluda; three brothers, John Elbert Crawford (Mary Anne) of Saluda, Thomas Blake Crawford (Jean) of Ninety Six and Robert Crawford (Sara Nell) of Saluda; sisters-in-law, Joan Cogburn Nobles of Toccoa GA, Sue Cogburn of Saluda, Miriam Helen Cogburn Hare (Brunner) of Edgefield Rebecca Cogburn James of Greenville, Rhett Cogburn O'Neal (Rudolph) of Anderson Ruby Mae Cogburn Timmerman of Anderson and Othello Balchum Cogburn of Columbia; brothers-in-law, Stevens Clinton "Ike" Cogburn (Frances) and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cogburn was preceded in death by four brothers, Gary Eugene Crawford, Jesse Herman Crawford, James Henry Crawford and William Lott Crawford and two brothers-in-law, Avery Cogburn and Benjamin Reed Cogburn.
