Claude Pannell Dies In Sunset Beach
Claude Lee Pannell, 59, former fruit grower and shipper in the Ivanhoe district, died Monday morning at Sunset Beach, where he had made his home for the last five years.
He was the father of Gordon M. and Robert C. Pannell and Mrs. D. O. Vickers of Visalia.
A native of Bristol, Va., he had lived in the Ivanhoe district for many years.
Other survivors include four brothers, Emmett and Frank Pannell, living in Pennsylvania, Roy Pannell, living in Tennessee, and Charles Pannell, Visalia; and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Elsea and Mrs. Earlie Latturi, both living in Tennessee.
He was a member of the Visalia Elks Club.
Private funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Woodlake Cemetery, the Rev. Chester Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlake Cemetery under the direction of the Hadley Funeral Chapel.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent.

Relatives have been informed here of the death of Claude Lee Pannell, 60, retired California rancher.
Mr. Pannell, son of the late Frank Gaines and Louisa Cox Pannell of Scott County, Va., moved to California when a young man. He had been in declining health for the past several years.
He was engaged in extensive ranching before ill health resulted in his retirement aboout six years ago. For the past year he had been living near Pismo Beach. He made his home at Ivanhoe, Calif.
Survivors are Robert Emmett and Frank G. Pannell, Lancaster, Pa., Hagan Pannell, Fresno, Calif., now visiting friends and relatives in this area, Mrs. Roy Elsea and Mrs. Glenn Latture, both of Blountville, Dr. Roy W. Pannell, Kingsport, Tenn. Three brothers preceded him in death: Dr. Edwin Pannell, Johnson City, Tenn., Thurman Pannell, Visalia, Calif., and Clinton Pannell, Montpelier, ind.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert and Miller Pannell, both of California, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee Vickers, California.
