Moses H Arnold died at his residence in this city, near the Fair Grounds, Sunday morning at 2 o'clock. Death came as the result of heart failure after an illness of a few days. Thursday, Mr. Arnold was unable to leave the house but previous to that had been in his usual health. However, for the past few years, he has not been very rugged.
Mr Arnold was born in Chatauqua (sic) county, N Y, Dec 2, 1834, of Puritan parentage. He lived there until manhood. On September, 1856, he was married to Mary A. Tucker, who survives him. Seven children were born to them of whom two only are living, Fred Arnold of Fairbury and Frank of Lincoln.
From New York, Mr and Mrs Arnold moved to Corry, Penn, and from there to Kansas in 1873. In 1880, they moved to Jefferson county, Nebraska and settled on a farm on Rose Creek, where they resided until 1901, when they came to Fairbury.
Mr Arnold leaves two brothers, A F Arnold of Greenleaf, Kansas; and N A Arnold of Chatauqua (sic) county, N Y and one sister, Mrs Mary J Teft of the same place.
Mr Arnold's residence of nearly a quarter of a century in this county made him many friends who will regret to learn of his death, even at the ripe age of three score years and ten.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, at two o'clock at the Baptist church, the pastor, Rev Wood, officiating. The remains were interred in Fairbury cemetery.
