He was born on Wednesday, 1 March 1944, in Hollandale, MS., and was the son of James Monroe Pierce and Pearlean (Phillips) Pierce.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He retired as an Air Traffic Controller, having worked at several airports retiring from Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, GA.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Faye Cleveland Fletcher Pierce, step-sons, Wayne Spoone and his wife Hattie and Ron Spoone and his wife Linda, all of Jacksonville, FL., Mel Fletcher and his wife Lynn, of Anderson, and step-daughters, Mikal Mitchell and her husband Dale and Beverly Hankins, all of Anderson, SC., brother, Ed Pierce and his wife Gwynne, of Toumsuba, MS., sister, Ann (Pierce) Eiarheart and her husband Dion, of Columbus, MS., brother-in-law, Larry Crenshaw, of Upora, MS., a special friend Eddie Crump, of Anderson, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe Pierce and Pearlean (Phillips) Pierce, first wife, Annie Louise (Milford) Spoone Pierce, sisters, Margie Marlene Pierce and Agnes Elizabeth (Pierce) Crenshaw.
