Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle E. Barnes were held August 13, 1980 at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A. C. Gardner officiating.

Ms. Barnes was born September 21, 1891 at Cerro Gordo, Tenn., and died August 11, 1980 at her residence in Steele at the age of 88. She was the daughter of Jessie Thompson and Melinda Stanfield Thompson.

Mrs. Barnes was united in marriage to Wilson A. Barnes at Steele in 1907. Her husband and four children preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Don Poynor, Jerry Holland, Richard Kellems, Jerry Teeter, Gary Teeter and Jack Strothers.

Burial was in the Hopkins Cemetery at Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
