Dairy farmer Ralph Burd dies at age 53
Services for dairy farmer Ralph D. Burd will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Dale United Methodist Church.
Burd died Monday at Lincoln General Hsopital. A relative said he had surgery to remove a brain tumor several weeks ago and was re-hospitalized Saturday night.
Burd, 53, operated a 560-acre farm 12 miles west of Lincoln. He was a member of the corporate board of directors of Mid-America Dairymen Inc. He also served as president of the Pleasant Dale Cooperative Cooperative Grain and the Nebraska Livestock Industry. He was a member of Farm Bureau, the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee and the Cornhusker Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He had served as president of the Omaha Dairy Council, was associated with Milford Farmland and was a 4-H leader.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Duane of Lincoln; two daughters, Beverly and Debbie, both of Lincoln; his parents; a sister; and three grandchildren.
