Rubye Turner

The funeral service for school cook Rubye Mae Frensley Turner of Bruceton was planned at 2 p.m. today at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Steve Whitworth from New Hope United Methodist Church at Vale was to officiate. Burial was to follow in New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery in Carroll County.

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were pallbearers.

Members of New Hope United Methodist Church were honorary pallbearers.

Turner, 92, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her residence.

Born in the Pleasant Hill community near Mansfield on Aug. 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John and Mable Bomar Frensley.

She was married on April 11, 1936, to William Harold Turner, who died May 8, 1992.

Turner was the oldest member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She also was the oldest member of the Vale Family and Community Education Club, formerly known as the Vale Home Demonstration Club, where she had been a member for more than 50 years.

She was a cook at Vale School and served as postmaster relief at the Vale post office. A family member said she was a loving wife and mother.

She leaves three sons: William C. (Faye) Turner of Springville, Jimmie T. (Cathy) Turner of Vale and David L. (Angie) Turner of Huntingdon; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Pauline Allison and Johnie Carter; and a brother: Thomas Frensley.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 583, Paris or to the New Hope United Methodist Children's Camp fund or cemetery fund, both in c/o Brenda Bennett, 2190 New Hope Road, Hollow Rock 38342.
