HORST
Theodore "Ted" Horst, of Greeley, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Oct. 1, 2010, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley after a brief illness. He was 94.
Mr. Horst was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Keota, to Christ and Elizabeth (Mitzel) Horst.
The family moved to Johnstown when he was 5. He attanded Johnstown schools.
In 1937, he married Ruth Weickum. He farmed with his dad north of Johnstown before moving to The Two River Ranch in Platteville, where he was a dairy farmer for many years. He retired in 1978 in Johnstown.
Mr. Horst is survived by his two daughters, Janet Drieth (Larry) of Grand Junction, and June Bohlender (Glenn) of Greeley; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Emmett Horst (Rose Maria) of Denver; a sister-in-law, Esther Prior of Merced, California; a brother-in-law, Pete Gard of Peoria, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Horst; brothers William, Edward, John, and Arthur, and one sister, Elise Reider.
A funeral service was held Oct. 9 at Elsa Borgmann Chapel at Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley.
