Funeral services for Mr. George Vercher, 84, of Ore City, Texas will be
held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8 at the Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana,
Texas with Rev. Bobby Phillips and Rev. Charles Costello officiating.
Burial will follow in Cloutierville at 4 p.m.
Mr. Vercher died Monday, July 5, 1999 in Longview, Texas.
He is a native of Cloutierville and a former resident of Ore City. He
was
a retired Lone Star Steel foreman in #2 pipe mill. Mr. Vercher served in
the U. S. Army and was a WWII veteran who received a silver star for his
gallantry in action while under hostile fire.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Vercher of Ore City; one
daughter Regina Kurtz and son-in-law Ray of Tyler, Texas; and grandchildren
Candace and Nathanel.
