Lucinda Agnes Allman was born the daughter of Samuel Sr and Mary Hall Allman on December 15, 1867, in Jackson County, IN.

Lucinda and her siblings lost their father, Samuel Allman, Sr in 1876. According to the Brownstown Banner, dated November 16, 1876, he died at about 66 years of age. His burial location is not known.

A marriage license was issued for Charles L.W. Mitchell and Lucinda Allman dated July 24, 1884, in Jackson County, IN. The license was witnessed by Frank Burrell and is filed in Jackson county marriages, 1883 - 1885 Volume 1 page 167. But whomever performed the marriage did not fill out their section for the license/certificate on file with the county.

Lucinda and Charles Lee W. Mitchell were married for about 31 years, living in Jackson County, where his occupation was farm work. They had nine children.

Charles Mitchell died on September 14, 1915, at his home in Redding Township, Jackson County after being ill for several months, suffering from arterialscleriosis and dropsy. According to his obituary, he and Lucinda were married July 27, 1885. Eight of their nine children survived. His funeral was at the Baptist church and he was buried in Robertson cemetery.

Lucinda Mitchell and Samuel Weddle were married by the Rev. J. William Book, pastor of the Tabernacle Christian Church, on December 23, 1916, in the Bartholomew County clerks's office. The marriage license and certificate are filed with Bartholomew county, 1916 - 1917 Volume 25, page 157. Interestingly, Lucinda recorded her date of birth to be December 15, 1878, and her parents were Samuel Allmon and Mary Allen, both deceased. They were not married for very long, likely being divorced by early 1918.

Lucinda Weddell and Elijah Rush Hendershot were married at the home of Rev. F.H. Reynolds on January 24, 1918, in Jackson County. The marriage license and certificate are filed with Jackson county marriages, 1915 - 1919 Volume R, page 451. As part of her personal information, Lucinda listed her date of birth as December 15, 1859; parents Samuel Allman and Mary E. Allen. Information from the Brownstown Banner dated January 30, 1918, and the recorded license/certificate.

This marriage didn't last very long as Lucinda Hendershot had left her husband by February 1920, and he filed for divorce in February 1922. Information from the Brownstown Banner.

On December 15, 1928, Lucinda Mitchell and Joseph Clovis were married by Rev. Jesse Nichols at the Jackson County Courthouse. The marriage license and certificate are filed with Jackson county marriages 1928 - 1930 Volume V, page 173. Lucinda recorded her date of birth as December 15, 1869 and her parents were Samuel Allman and Mary Allen. There was also a mention of the marriage in the Brownstown Banner dated December 19, 1928.

Lucinda and Joseph Clovis lived the rest of their married lives in Seymour, IN, until his death in 1933. She did not remarry.

Clovis - Following a short illness Mrs. Lucinda Clovis, age 74, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Smith, in Seymour Sunday. Death was due to a stroke.

Mrs. Clovis was a life-long resident of Jackson county. She was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Allman. In 1883 she was married to Lee Mitchell, who died in 1915. Later she was married to Joe Clovis, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Pentecostal church.

Besides Mrs. Smith she is survived by six other children: Mrs. Maude Jones, Frank, Edward, William and Lonnie Mitchell, all of Indianapolis, and Pvt. Ralph Mitchell, of Berkeley, Calif. Thirty-eight grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Lucinda Clovis, aged seventy-four, a life-long resident of Jackson county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Smith, 117 Noble street, late Sunday afternoon. Death followed an illness of one and one-half days after a stroke.

Mrs. Clovis was born on December 15, 1868, in Jackson county, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Allman, both deceased. She was married in 1883 to Lee Mitchell, who died in 1915. She later was married to Joe Clovis, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Indianapolis.

She is survived by seven children: Mrs. Maude Jones, Frank Mitchell, Edward Mitchell, William Mitchell and Lonney Mitchell, all of Indianapolis; Mrs. Smith of this city and Pvt. Ralph Mitchell, of Berkeley, Calif. A son, Charles Mitchell, preceded her in death. Thirty-eight grandchildren also survive.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later, pending the arrival of her son, who is in the Army.
