Wrightsville - Charlotte (Gainer) Smith, 83, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of Burnell L. Smith to whom she was married for 64 years.
A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday and 9-10:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springville Cemetery.
Born September 12, 1935 in Columbia, a daughter of the late Maris B. and Catherine R. (Murray) Gainer, she was a 1953 graduate of Columbia High School. Mrs. Smith retired from Tighe Industries where she was a seamstress. She was a creative person who enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets for her family and reading in to the wee hours of the night. Even though she acted like she didn't like going to their cabin in Bedford Co., she really did!
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Bryan K. and wife Sandra Smith of Wrightsville; a daughter, Michele D. Sechrist of Windsor; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Bish of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a son, Burnell L. Smith, Jr.; and brothers and sisters.
