Wife of Orrin Turner.

Mother of Eugene (Elmwood Cemetery), Madeline(Yates City Cemetery), Opal, Louise, Harold, Melvin, Lloyd

Daughter of C. Henry Upp

The first time I met Isal she came down in her old truck to see us when we were moving into our home that mom and dad built on the old Turner farm that was neighboring hers.(1964) We were neighbors for many years and I became very well acquainted with her. She was a good neighbor. For a while she hired my dad to help her farm her 120 acres. She told me she watched for my light to go out at night and that is how she knew we were back home from whereever.

She loved to raise flowers and had some very nice flower gardens in her yard. She was very spry lady. She had chickens, cows, and sheep and an old windmill. My dog Pepper would walk down to visit her sometimes. One time Pepper killed one of her chickens and she liked the dog so much that she just said. "Well maybe she will kill the rest of them and I won't have to take care of them anymore"

Isal husband had a stroke and she had cared for him for 7 years before he died.

By the time my husband and I bought mom and dad's place after they had died, Isal had moved to an assited living home in Farmington. Her daughter Madeline brought her to see me one time and Isal was becoming senile, but she was saddened at the state of her farm after she sold it. I took her cookies for christmas and while she still knew me she kept repeating her greeting to me. I miss her as I do all the older folks that I remember.
