Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - September 1, 1949 - Last member of a large family, Frank Fethkenher was born Oct 7, 1868 in Stargard Province, Pomer, Germany. At the age of 13 he came with his parents to America and settled in Pocahontas County on a farm.
In 1890 he was united in marriage to Lena Elizabeth Reickelfs. To this union were born 7 children, three preceding the parents in death: Sena, Mrs Jack Spooner, Edith, Mrs Earl Betsenger, and Bernice in infancy.
Mrs Fethkenher passed away in 1944. At the time of her death they had been married 54 years.
Death came to Brother Fethkenher early Thursday morning while in natural sleep, letting him awake in the glory of new morning beyond this life.
He is survived by three daughters and one son: Florence, Mrs Wm Stark, Storm Lake; Roy, Storm Lake; Mabel, Mrs Boone Shelley, Clark, MO; Beatrice, Mrs Roy Morlan, Jefferson; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday afternoon. Bearers were 6 grandsons. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
