He was 83 years old at the time of his death. He died at his residence in Dixie. Born in the Coffman community in Greene County, he had lived in Dixie for most of his life. He was retired from the Dixie Gin Co., after 39 years and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by one son, Benny W. Brown; one daughter, Sue Brewer; his parents, Albert and Edna Smith Brown; two sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services were held April 9 in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
