Death of a Prominent Planter.
Special to The Times.
Rayville, La., Dec. 19. - Elijah McDonald, a prominent and wealthy planter, a Mason, ex-president of the police jury of this parish and member of the endowment rank, Knights of Pythias, died at his home, seven miles south of here, and was buried with Masonic and Pythian honors, at Little Creek cemetery, today. He was 64 years of age and had been in ill health for a long time with asthma and Bright's disease, but was able to carry on a large planting business until taken to his bed several weeks ago. He was one of the oldest citizens of this parish and leaves a wife and son, Dr. Eugent [sic] McDonald.
