Gertrude was a retired head nurse for the Wilmington General Hospital and during WWII, she was a naval nurse.
She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where she served on the board of Deacons.
For many years she was a faithful volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was also a member of the Bed and Breakfast of Delaware.
One of Gertrude's passions was traveling.
She used to joke to her friends that she never unpacked her suitcase.
Gertrude's personality and smile will be missed by all who knew her.
