Mr. CHARLES EDWARD VIRTS, 66, of 19312 Keep Tryst Road, Knoxville, died Thursday, Feb. 25, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Zelda M. Virts. Born June 2, 1921 in Weverton, he was the son of the late Charles Franklin and Mabel Benjamin Virts.

He was a retired farmer and had resided in Washington County for the past 29 years. He was a graduate of Eastern High School, Baltimore. He served as a pilot in WWII and the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy. He is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a production manager for the Highway Supply Corporation in Jessup.

He was a member of and served on the Board of Trustees and as chairman of the Administrative Board of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church. He was a member of Brunswick Lodge 191, AF&A Masons, Frederick Elks Lodge 684, and Lodge 1582, Loyal Order of Moose of Brunswick.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, V. Eugene Lilly, Linthicum, and V. Brent Virts, Lebanon, Va.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick; interment in the Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville.
