POWDER UNDER THE BED.
Blackstone, Mass., Oct. 27. -
Sheriff Nugent today discovered that Michael Bartholeme, who last night attempted to kill his wife, and later set fire to the farmhouse and committed suicide, intended to blow up the building. Under the bed in the room in which he committed suicide, was found about a pound of powder, covered with shavings and excelsior. It was also found that Bartholeme had saturated the bed with kerosene to make sure that the house would burn. Mrs. Bartholeme is likely to die. She has been unconscious since she was shot.
