Oscar was the son of Lydia Francis Weaver Brady and Edwin Washington Brady. Oscar married Henrietta Peck Brady on Dec 6, 1888 in Springfield MO.

Oscar was the father of Irene Rosabelle Brady and Russell Curtis Brady.

Oscar was the founder of the Davenport-Rock Island-Moline newspaper "The Daily Times" along with his brother Albert Bird Brady. Oscar also worked with S.S. McClure as General Manager for the McClure's Magazine. Oscar Brady's career with McClure's Magazine is depicted in the book "Success Story, The Life and Times of S.S. McClure" by Peter Lyon.

After Oscar left McClures Publishing Company, he and his family moved to Sanford, Flordia where they lived in a house located at 918 South Magnolia Avenue from 1910 to 1914 at which time he reenterd publishing and moved to Chicago, IL. The house on South Magnolia still stands today.

Oscar resided at 5680 North Ridge Avenue, Chicago, IL at the time of his death from Bright's disease.
