"Judy Barney, 66, of Pomerene, finished her time on earth, March 28, 2013.
Judy is survived by her children: Missy (Eldon) Merrell of Duncan, Brett (Lisa) Barney of Pomerene, Angie (Jim) Palmer of Pomerene, Dane (Laura) Barney of Pomerene, Kendra (Dan) Spindle of Queen Creek, 23 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was born Judy Goodman in Mesa, Ariz., and spent her entire childhood and adolescence in St. David, where the family roots run deep. This small-town girl loved growing up on a farm with her parents, two brothers and sister.
She earned a certificate in cosmetology after high school and was styling hair when she caught the eye of the good-looking college grad from Graham County, Gerald Barney. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Mesa LDS Temple in 1966, and started their family in southern Arizona shortly thereafter.
Judy opened her home to countless who needed of a place to stay and loved to entertain. She was kind and generous and always giving when it came to the temporal and emotional needs of her family and those she treated as family.
She served in a number of church callings in the Pomerene Ward from the Primary to the Relief Society, and the dedication to her faith served as an example to those around her.
Judy always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved to cook and spend family time together. During Sunday night get-togethers and Christmas celebrations she was at her happiest.
She tirelessly cared for her family members with ailing health, and unconditionally loved and supported her children and grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, "Mack" and Nettie Goodman, her sister Debbie Goodman and her son Kevin.
Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center on Pomerene Rd. on April 1, with interment following at Pomerene Cemetery."
