Gracia Anleu of New Castle, Pa., and Metairie, La., passed away tragically in an automobile accident while traveling with her son and daughter in Jefferson City, Tenn. She was 94. Gracia was born April 8, 1918, in Chichicastenango, Guatemala, a daughter of Julio and Concha Rodas Gil. She graduated high school with an education in secretarial studies. Gracia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Anleu was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Metairie. She enjoyed knitting and watching Spanish soap operas. Her husband, Julio Anleu, whom she married May 3, 1941, preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1981. Gracia is survived by a daughter, Edda Anleu of Guatemala City, Guatemala; two sons, Carlos Haroldo Anleu and his wife, Claudia, and Mario Arnoldo Anleu and his wife, Luisa, both of Guatemala City; two sisters, Ondina Gil and Eva Gil, both of Guatemala City; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Ana D. Anleu of Metairie. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Her son, Julio Armando Anleu, died in the crash with her. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Mary Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, with the Rev. William P. Siple officiating. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.

A single-vehicle crash Thursday night on Interstate 81 in Jefferson County claimed the lives of two people and left a third injured.

The crash of the 2004 GMC Yukon bearing Pennsylvania license plates was reported at 11:39 p.m. Thursday, according to a report filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremy Shelton. The wreck occurred at the 3 mile marker on southbound I-81 near White Pine.

Killed in the crash were driver Julio Armando Anleu, 63, of New Castle, Pa., and passenger Gracia Isolda Anleu, 94, of Metairie, La., according to Shelton's report. Injured was passenger Edda Anleu, 69.

The extent of Edda Anleu's injuries was not immediately available Friday morning.

Shelton's report states the Yukon was southbound on I-81 when it left the right side of the road and rolled several times. All of the Yukon's occupants were using seat belts.
