John KELLER was the third child of twelve born to Franklin and Ellen Jane KELLER. He was named after his grandfather, John KELLER of (W)VA.
In 1876, John married Sarah 'Sallie' PHILLIPS b. 31 May 1860 in Liberty, Clarke Co., IA. She was the daughter of Ichabod S. and Mary WATSON PHILLIPS, both of RI. Together John and Sarah had four children, all of which lived to adulthood.
John was in Missouri for only two weeks in Dec 1886. It was unclear as to whether it was for work or to homestead, regardless, a tree fell on him while he worked in the timber. He left behind his widow, Sarah with four small children.
