WARSAW - Thelma G. Sparks, 86, of 1516 E. Jefferson St., died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Sparks retired in 1970, as a cook for Warsaw Community High School. She was born Dec. 11, 1903, in Kosciusko County, and was a lifelong area resident. In 1920, she married Wayne VanCuren. He died in 1928. In 1935, she married Fred Sparks. He died in 1961. Surviving are two daughters, Mariam Ring and Marcele Mathys, both of Warsaw; two sons, Donald of North Webster and Marshall of Warsaw; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack and Mervin Konkle, both of Harlan, Ind. Two children preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
