She was employed by the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and was director of the Lowery Resource Learning Center, Capstone College of Nursing, University of Alabama. She had worked at the Veterans Hospital in Tuscaloosa and the University Hospital in Birmingham. She was survived by her husband John Dan Lowery and two Daughters, Alicia Ann, and Joanna Lynn. Her parents are Alice Grey and Kelsy Rice Hester. Her brother is Terry Ronald Hester.
