Mary's first husband was Angus Puterbaugh. They married in 1856 and had four known children: Dan, James, Leslie, and Martha Puterbaugh.

Mary's second husband was James "Jim" Dunlap, by whom she had two known children: Louisa J. and William Franklin Dunlap.

Obituary:
Mrs. James Dunlap died Sunday forenoon at the age of 81 years, after many months of suffering. When young she was united in marriage to Mr. Puterbaugh. This union was blessed with six children, two living after the death of Mr. Puterbaugh. She was then united with Jas. Dunlap. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Anson Proctor who died twelve years ago, and Wm. Dunlap, who resides at the home. The funeral service was conducted by Elder Scheffer of Laing and burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery. Relatives from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell of Decker.
