Obituary - Hortense Rose Beers, 97, died Monday, January 26, at a local care center. She was born June 4, 1900 in Farmington, Utah, a daughter of Armond T. and Clara Sanders Rose. She married Arthur G. Beers on July 20, 1928, in the Logan LDS Temple. He died in 1973.
She had been a resident of Ogden since 1942. She graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree. She had been employed as a teacher at Davis High School, Bear River High School, and Ogden Elementary Schools.
Hortense had been a member of the Ogden 19th, 14th, and 33rd LDS wards where she was active in music, dramatics, and a class teacher. She had been a member of the Ogden Literary Club, Children's Hour, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Wasatch. She also was active in the home service department of the Utah Power & Light Co. She was a member of the Dinner & Study Club for over 40 years.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, Armand H. Beers, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Kenneth (Clara Lou) Knowles, Kirkland, Ohio; Marilyn Anderson, Ogden; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at 2:30 p.m. in the Farmington, Utah Cemetery. Friends may call at the Larkin & Sons Mortuary in Ogden, Friday from 1-2 p.m.
