JERRY BAKALAR, 87, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Cudahy, Wis., he was a Tool Crib Attendant with Zollner-Piston Corporation for 36 years, retiring in 1979. He loved golfing, bowling, watched baseball and loved his children and was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. Survivors include son, Ron (Rita) Bakalar of Fort Wayne; daughter, Deb Freeman (Windy) of New Haven; son, Don (Brenda) Bakalar of Sumter, S.C.; grandchildren, John Bakalar, Tammi Vachon, Robbi Bakalar, Jason Freeman and Lorie Freeman; sister, Eleanor Andrews, Norma Custard and Ann Mell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bakalar; brothers, Nestor P. and Ted Bakalar; and sisters, Marion Wagner, Ruth Lynch and Betty Bakalar. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2320 Broadway, with calling one hour prior. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Parkview Home Health Care & Hospice.
