Philipp Friedrich Pfeiffer enlisted in Company I, 41st New York Infantry on June 6, 1861 and was discharged for 'expiration of service' on June 27, 1864. This unit was comprised of German Immigrants and fought in many Historic Battles, including Gettysburg. Philipp's brother served in the same Company. His brother's name was Johann Gottlieb Pfeiffer. At this time, I'm not sure if they fought in the same Division or not.

Philipp Friedrich Pfeiffer lived in the Soldier's Home, in Dayton, Ohio. He was disabled from hardships in the civil war. He died at the Military Home and is buried in Ohio.

Philipp's brother, Johann Gottlieb Pfeiffer served in the same New York Regiment. He enlisted on October 10, 1861 and was discharged on May 26, 1864 due to wounds received at Chancellorsville, Virginia. The actual wounds are not described but they were inflicted on May 2, 1863. He lived most of his life in Washington County, Ohio.
