OBITUARY:
Mrs. Emma Gebhart Simmons was born on the family farm in south Salina that she later helped develop into Salina's first shopping center, Kraft Manor. She also developed the Gebhart housing development.

She died July 15,1965, at Asbury Hospital, in Salina. She was preceded in death her husbands, Newton Gebhart in 1923, and Arthur Simmons in 1949. After Arthur's death she moved to Los Angeles, California, for a short time.

She was survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leslie Gebhart; grandsons, Gary Charles Gebhart and Jack Leslie Gebhart; and two great grandchildren.
