Raymond S. Estill Sr.
Raymond S. Estill Sr., 92, of Marshall, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., Wednesday, March 31, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Wayne Doolin will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with military rites at graveside. Memorials are suggested to the Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice or the Harry S. Truman Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1907, in Howard County, he was the son of the late Ennis G. Estill and Callie McCrary Estill. In May of 1941 , he married Edith L. Garrison, who preceded him in death Feb. 13, 1999. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshall and had lived in Marshall since 1953. He had worked at Marshall Public Schools as a custodian and crosswalk guard and was a retired farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the World War II in the European theater.
Survivors include one son, Bud Estill of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond S. Estill, Jr., a daughter in infancy, four brothers, six sisters and a grandson.
