Mrs. EFFIE ARMSTRONG
Mrs. Effie Armstrong, 71, widow of Edward K. Armstrong and a resident of 629 Main St., died at Putnam Memorial Hospital this morning, where she had been a patient for one week.
She was born in North Adams, Mass., July 9, 1892, daughter of Charles and Etta (Bailey) Greer. Her schooling had been received in North Adams. She was married to Mr. Armstrong, who died in 1946.
For many years she had been employed at the old Allen-A textile plant. Her last employment had been at Wright-Way Laundry. Her home and family had been her chief interests.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Ethel) Paquin of Bennington and Mrs. Rudolph (Marion) Day of Searsburg; two sons, Raymond M. Armstrong of Pownal and Edward C. Armstrong of Shaftsbury; one half brother, Walter Greer of Acton, Mass.; seven grandsons, Robert Paquin of Bennington; R. Keith Armstrong of Hoosick Falls; Herbert Armstrong and Donald Armstrong of Pownal; Alan Armstrong of Shaftsbury; Richard and James Day of Searsburg; two great granddaughters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 pm with the Rev. Angus J. MacDonald, Shaftsbury Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Old Bennington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 when the family will be in attendance.
