SARAH "SALLY" PENELOPE HUNNICUTT BEEMAN PIPER

Family notes show she is buried as "Beeman". No tombstone found for Sarah or either husband.

Dau of Hartwell Taylor Hunnicutt and Margaret Cunningham. who had 15 children. The family moved to Illinois by covered wagon, leaving Christmas Day 1816, when Sarah was a toddler.

m2: John Piper about 1850. John was a widower, father of nine, four of whom were in the home 1850. His memorial states that Sarah brought her five children to the marriage.

The following is from 1891 bio of her youngest child, Montillion:
"He {Montillion} was born January 20, 1842, and is of English and Irish extraction. His parents were William and Sarah (Hunicutt) Beeman, who came to Calhoun County at a very early day and here spent the remainder of their lives. The father entered three hundred and twenty acres of land in Carlin Precinct, and after seeing his family comfortably settled in a log cabin with characteristic energy turned his attention to the development of a farm. He died when our subject was but four years of age and his wife passed away a few years since. They were the parents of five children, four of whom are yet living - Rachel, wife of Thomas Nelson; Louisa, deceased; Mrs. Ann Cloninger; Mary, wife of Welcome Scott, and Montillion."

Sarah and her sister, Emily Hunnicutt, married brothers William and John Beeman.

Death record not found. Son's obit states he was born and raised in Calhoun Co IL, his first wife buried here in 1877.

There are numerous fieldstones worn bare, and broken stones.
