Sam Julian Marshall, 88, of C.T. Snidow Rd. in Narrows, departed this life Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Born in Tazewell County on August 3, 1921, he was a son of the late Henry M. & Levada Sutphin Marshall. Sam was a veteran of the U S Army, World War II, retired from the Celanese Plant spinning dept. and a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Jo Mae Williams Marshall and several brothers and sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons & daughters-in-law, J Dwight (Sammy) & Shirley Totten Marshall of Narrows and Glen A. & Sue Songer Marshall, of Pearisburg; his grandchildren, Matt Marshall, Jessica Peoples ("T" James M), Tammy Bradley (Wes), Heather Gillispie (Caleb), Kimberly Taylor (Jason); his great-grandchildren, Chandler Marshall, Tristin Gillispie; and his sister, Olivia Marshall Kendall of Pembroke. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
