Cyrus and his brother Moses fought for their country in the War of 1812. He was discharged just before the Battle of Plattsburg, and settled at Georgia, Vt. Later he went to North Hero, where his farm was near that of Nathan Hazen. He followed his eldest son to Clayton County, Iowa, in 1848. The members of the Buck family were all temperate, and almost without exception consistent and active Christians connected with the Methodist Episcopal Church
