Albert was the son of Cyrus Adams Buck and Lois Hazen. He married Sarah Peters on 7 FEB 1861 in National, Iowa. They were the parents of 8 children: Myra, Amelia, Elmer R, Royal, Raymond, Arthur, and Leslie.

March 24, 1916 - Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Albert Cyrus buck was born in North Hero, Grand Isle county, Vt, June 18, 1826. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1848 traveling by water on canal and lakes to Chicago where teams were purchased and the rest of the journey was made in wagons. On reaching the Mississippi river the boat was found to be on the west side and the young men of the company built a raft and crossed on it on Mr. Buck's 21st birthday.

A farm was purchased ten miles from McGregor in Clayton County, Ia., and this was Mr. Buck's home until he came to Storm Lake in 1892.

He was married on February 7, 1861 to Miss Sarah E. Peters who preceded him to the better land February 18, 1913. Of the five sons and three daughters born to them three sons are still living: Dr. Elmer Buck of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Arthur of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Leslie of Olivia, MN.

Mr. Buck was converted youth and joined the M.E. church. He was a man of good mind and sterling integrity. His health has been feeble for years but he was uniformly patient and gentle.

He died Monday morning March 20 at the home of his daughter-in-law. Mrs. Minnie Buck whose devotion and care have been his chief earthly comfort since the death of his beloved wife. His end was peaceful. Like a shock of corn fully ripened he was gathered by the reaper of souls.

Buck, who was born in New England and was a soldier of the war of 1812, while his father, Moses Buck, was a soldier of the Revolutionary war.

A.C. Buck, the father of our subjects, was reared in Vermont and was a young man of twenty-two years when, becoming imbued with the desire to try his fortune in the new west, he made his way from New England to Clayton county, Iowa, becoming one of its pioneer settlers. He married Miss Sarah Peters, also a native of the Green Mountain state, and through their combined efforts they accumulated two hundred and forty acres of land, which the father placed under a good state of cultivation.

They made their home on that farm until 1892, when they removed to Buena Vista county and both still survive. The father is now a hale and hearty old man of eighty-two years, while the mother is well preserved at sixty-seven years. Their family numbers four sons: E.R., who married Minnie L. Clark, of Storm Lake, and is now practicing medicine in Hudson, South Dakota; R.R.; Arthur, who is unmarried and makes his home with his brother a part of the time; and Leslie, also unmarried. ...
