He was born on October 8, 1931 in Caldwell County to Luester and Naomi Baker.
John attended Liberty School in Caldwell County and was married to Wilma Davis on Nov. 19, 1949 in Caldwell County. The couple farmed in Caldwell County until retiring to Providence in the early 1980's.
He is survived by his wife Wilma of Dawson Springs, a son and daughter in law, Roger and Debbie Baker of Providence, one grandson Rodney Baker, a granddaughter Amy (Corey) Merrill, a great grandson Alden and a sister Ora Marie Young of Princeton
He was preceded in death by a brother David Baker of Princeton.
John was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church in Caldwell County.
Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery in Caldwell county. Visitation is on Monday from noon to service time at the funeral home.
