Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - August 18, 2002. Obituary: Bryant Heiner Croft, age 88, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2002 in Sandy, Utah. Bryant was born July 27, 1914 in Morgan, Utah, to Charles Milton and Fannie Heiner Croft. On June 2, 1941, he married Gene Beth Hubbard in the Salt Lake Temple. Bryant graduated with the last class from LDS high school in 1931. He served an LDS mission in England. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and an LLB degree from George Washington Law School in Washington D.C. He served as an FBI agent for eight years in Arkansas, Chicago, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City. He served four years as an Assistant US Attorney under Scott Matheson, Sr. He practiced law for 12 years. He served in the Utah State Land Board, and State Oil and Gas Commission. He considered his greatest accomplishment to be his appointment as a Utah State Third District Court Judge, in which he served from 1965 to 1984. Bryant and his wife traveled to Egypt, Scandinavia, the Eastern Mediterranean, Portugal, Spain, England, and many places in the United States. Some of his favorite memories include watching Babe Ruth hit a home run in Yankee Stadium in 1930, being in London for the coronation of King Charles IV in 1937, and playing for Lancashire-Yorkshire Major League Baseball in England in 1938. He loved ballroom dancing, bridge, golf, and reading about the Civil War. Despite his failing heart, he lived to reach his goal of seeing the dawn of the new millennium.

Bryant is survived by his wife, Gene; two children, Lee (Kristine) Croft, Glendale, AZ; and Barbara (Philip) Terry, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sarah Ann, one brother and six sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 11:00 a.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, where friends may call Tuesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
