Lillie's future husband, Byrd Bryant Isom, he had lost the "ball" of his foot in a train accident when he was working for the railroad. Lillie was able to see beyond Byrd's disability, and she fell in love with him, just as he was.
Lillie and Byrd Bryant Isom were united in marriage in McNairy Co, TN on April 19, 1908. They had 8 children together, 6 boys, and then their twin daughters, who were the "babies."
Lillie was widowed at the age of 40, and left to raise her children on her own. The year was 1930. The family had lost all of the money they had in the bank in 1929, and there was no social security to assist a widow, at the time. Lillie worked very hard to provide for her family, and her faith in God's providence grew tremendously, as He showed her that He would "make a way" for her. Lillie passed on her great faith in her Heavenly Father to all of her children, and to their children. Lillie was the grand matriarch of her family; an angel with a heart of gold, and she is still greatly missed by her many remaining descendants.
Lillie lived a remarkable life, as her life was just a month shy of reaching 100 years. She went from a world where her mother spun linen & cotton for fabric, and hand made all of the clothes, and where horses were the means of transportation...to a world with people flying in planes, and men landing on the moon! What a transformation Lillie witnessed in her lifetime!
Lillie was a member of the Foote Street Church of Christ, in Corinth, MS.
