Martha Josephine "Josie" (Hurley) Paysinger was the daughter of John Randolph "Jack" Hurley and his wife Martha Ann (Arnold) Hurley.

She married Burton Wiley Alexander Paysinger in McNairy CO, TN on Jan. 15, 1880.

Josie was a member of the Church of Christ.

Later in life, Josie and her husband spent several months at a time living with each of their children. Josie was staying with daughter Lela when she had a stroke while she was washing dishes one evening. Josie lived for a few hours... just long enough for her children and some of her grandchildren, to be able to come and be with her when she passed "through the veil." (This story was told by Lillie Isom, daughter. ) No autopsy was done. Josie is believed to have died from a stoke, rather than a "heart attack" as listed on her death certificate.
