William was the son of Henry Payne Harris Sr. and Sarah Ann Foley. He married Ann Eliza Hart on Jan. 29, 1861 in Piatt Co., Ill. Their marriage produced 4 children in 6 years. They were Rebecca Jane b. Aug. 20, 1863,Henry Payne b. Nov.2, 1861, Sally Ann b. 1866, and James William b. Feb. 1867. After the birth of the last child Ann Eliza passed away. William remarried an Emily Uree Yeager on Sept. 22, 1868 and they had a child William Henry Jr. who was born in 1869 around the time of his father's death. William passed away in 1869.

On Dec. 9, 1873 Emily married William Luther Branch who had been born Aug. 19, 1838 in Springfield, Ill. They married in Champaign, Ill. Emily Branch passed away on Feb. 13, 1914 in Champaign, Ill. and it is believed that she is buried in Monticello Cemetery.
He was my 2 x gr. grandfather.
