The former Mabel Weavers was born 13th January, 1895, in the Town of Holland, a daughter of the late Herman and Berdena Boom Weavers. She attended the West Cedar Grove Public School and graduated from the Wisconsin Memorial Academy at Cedar Grove in 1913. She then taught school in the former Amsterdam School and primary department of the Cedar Grove Graded School.
After several years of teaching, she took nurses training at Wesley Memorial Methodist Hospital in Chicago, becoming a registered nurse and became a surgical supervisor at the Methodist Hospital in Madison.
She married Dr. Lester Plekenpol 24th August, 1924 and they made their home in Cascade. Dr.Plekenpol preceded her in death 22nd March, 1962. she is a former member of the Sibley Rebekah Lodge in Waldo, Past Noble Grand of the Lodge and past District President of District No. 15 Rebekah Lodges. She was also a member of the Sheboygan County District Nurses Assoc., the Loyalty Chapter No. 118, Order of Eastern Star in Plymouth and a charter member of the Plymouth chapter of AARP.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Christ in Plymouth. She had been employed part-time as a registered nurse at Plymouth Hospital from 1942 until retirement in 1974. In April, 1979, she moved to Plymouth.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law Mrs. Bernice (Norbert) Sternitzky of Kohler; two grandsons, David (Anita) Plekenpol of Whitewater; Donald (JoAnn) Plekenpol of Hillsborough, California; five great-grandsons; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Weavers of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by one son, Loyal; an infant daughter. an infant great-grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
