Bakersfield, Calif. – Max Dolan, 101, Bakersfield, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 1995, at California Care Center, Bakersfield.
Mr. Dolan was born Oct. 17, 1893, at Clifton, Kan., and was a longtime California resident. He owned and managed the Clifton Telephone Co.; was part-owner of Clifton Sand and Gravel Co.; worked for First National Bank, Clifton; was appointed postmaster of the Clifton Post Office in 1936; and was assistant postmaster in California until retiring in 1960. He was trustee of Clifton Presbyterian Church, served two terms as mayor, was president of the Chamber of Commerce, master of the Masonic Lodge, and treasurer of the school board.
His wife, Ora Lucretia, died in 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Ray of Bakersfield and Joanne Farbo of Riverside ; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Clifton IOOF Cemetery, Clifton.
Memorials may be made to Faith United Church Presbyterian, Clifton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Turner Funeral Home, 111 W. Parallel, Box 220, Clifton, Kan. 66937.
